Ciara Sotto's Vegas career update: Building permit delays "Fever" opening

Although Fever—her Vegas show with five other girls—has yet to begin, Ciara Sotto says they are being paid for every rehearsal. She also said she is now more mature, a much better performer, and now appreciates independence and responsibility. Her non-showbiz boyfriend Jojo Oconer flew in from the Philippines to Las Vegas to give her moral and emotional support.

        Sa pamamagitan ng YM at e-mail ay updated pa rin ang PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) sa mga nangyayari sa career at personal life ni Ciara Sotto.

April last year nang umalis ng bansa si Ciara kaya may isang taon nang naninirahan ang young actress-singer sa Las Vegas, U.S.A., kasama ang dalawa pang local singers na sina Karlyn Bayot at Rizza Navales, along with  three other female singers from America.

Up to now, hindi pa rin daw sila nakakapagsimula ng kanilang show sa bagong bubuksan na theater-restaurant na Melanja Sky Hotel and Restaurant sa Las Vegas.

Pero ayon kay Ciara, although there are times she feels frustrated dahil sa hindi raw nila inaasahang napakatagal na pagsisimula ng show nila, wala naman daw siyang regrets nang umalis siya ng bansa and for one year ay manirahan sa Las Vegas.

Aniya, "Yes, there are times I feel frustrated. However, I do understand naman why the construction of the theater is taking so long. Permits and compliance papers are taking a while to process, but, I'm doing fine. I have adjusted to being independent. I'm having fun. I will surely miss this city and this part of my life when I go back home."

Hindi nga raw nila inakala na napakatagal pala ng proseso at pagkuha ng permits for a new building. Maganda lang sa case nila, they are being paid sa mga rehearsals na ginagawa nila for their Fever show. And she's hoping that anytime soon, makakapag-start na raw sila.

"The construction of the theater took longer than everyone expected. Construction of the theater is still ongoing. But, it's well on its way to finally open soon."

PEP asked Ciara, what was she able to accomplish during her one-year stay in Vegas?

"I have spent the last year rehearsing for the show. I would like to think I am a better performer because of all these vocal and dance training. More importantly, on a personal level, I believe living here alone has taught me to appreciate independence and responsibility. I think I have matured a lot in the last year.

NO TO WEDDING IN VEGAS. During the Pacquiao-Marquez rematch, umani ng papuri si Ciara dahil sa maayos at magandang rendition niya ng "Lupang Hinirang." Sa pagkakataong 'yon, all-out din ang naging suporta sa kanya ng buong pamilya niya and even her non-showbiz boyfriend, Jojo Oconer who flew all the way from Pinas to Vegas to give her the support she needed.

Kailan lang ay umuwi na nga sa bansa ang kanyang boyfriend but her parents, her siblings, nieces, and nephews are still with her.

"My family has been here with me for weeks already. Since it's summer break in Manila, my nephews and niece came here to visit me. Of course my siblings and parents came, too. Except for my parents, I haven't seen my family for almost a year already. I missed them a whole lot. We took the kids to Disneyland and Universal Studios. We had loads of fun! I am very glad they are here," kuwento pa ni Ciara sa kanyang e-mail sa PEP.

When it comes to her love life, hindi maikakailang very open si Ciara sa aspetong ito ng buhay niya.

"We are doing great. He was just here to watch me sing the national anthem. He went with us to Disneyland and Universal. He was just here for a week. Not long enough. We have been together for more than two years," ani Ciara.

Itinanggi naman ni Ciara ang possibility na magpakasal or nagpakasal na sila ng boyfriend sa Las Vegas, kahit sabihin pang kumpleto ang pamilya niya ro'n at ilang beses na rin siya nabisita ng boyfriend.

Aniya, "I don't think that will happen here in Vegas. When we do get married, we will do it the proper way at the proper time. Notice I said ‘when' and not ‘if's. I suppose that answers the question kung siya na nga," sagot pa rin niya sa follow-up question namin dito kung sa palagay niya ba ay ang present boyfriend na nga ang makakatuluyan.

WORKING ON FIFTH ALBUM. Habang nagbabakasyon ang buong pamilya niya sa America, kasalukuyan ding nire-record ni Ciara ang bago niyang album, her fifth album for BMG Records. Ang daddy nga raw niyang si Tito Sotto ang nagsu-supervise ng recording niya with Mr. Chuck Foley as the sound engineer.

"This is my fifth album. It is a very romantic album composed of memorable love songs from years back. It's different because this one has fast songs that I dance to. The others didn't have that.

"The album will be mostly revival of familiar songs. There is one song, though, which is original; and quite special, if I may say so myself. It was made by my dad for my mom."

Isang kanta na lang daw ang kulang niyang i-record at kumpleto na ang bago niyang album. Umaasa naman si Ciara na this coming June, magkakaroon siya ng chance na makabisita sa Pilipinas, at the same time, maka-attend din ng wedding ng kanyang pinsan, at pagkakataon na rin para ma-i-promote niya ang bago niyang album. -PEP.ph
